SAVAH conducts Public Legal Education (PLE) workshops on OW/ODSP and we recently developed a comprehensive Youth Know Your Rights PLE.
In June of 2017, SAVAH and the Parkdale Queen West Community Health Centre joined the “It’s not Right” Ontario domestic violence public education campaign designed to educate and engage bystanders everywhere to stop elder abuse. SAVAH provided legal information training on the best practices of working with clients with mental health challenges for staff at the Centre for Equality Rights and Accomodation. Also, SAVAH provided legal information to settlement workers on CLEO’s easy-to-understand guide to law in Ontario. Finallly, SAVAH was invited by the Executive Director of the Advocacy Centre for the Elderly (ACE) to conduct a training session for PNSPN members on the legal rights of Older Adults.
SAVAH participated in the Rosedale Heights School of the Arts 2018 Wellness Fair, on May 11, 2018, to educate students about SAVAH’s mental organizing campaigns (supporting ex-prisoners with mental health issues access ODSP), and Public Legal Education (PLE’s) for non-profit agencies to better serve clients with mental health issues.
