Community Dinner and Annual General Meeting

This past year has been difficult for PCLS. We lost 45% of our funding from our core funder, Legal Aid Ontario. We have moved our office to two temporary locations, and lost staff members due to the cuts. We are in the midst of restructuring our services to match our new funding reality while we continue to maintain solidarity with the community, rally against the cuts, and continue to serve through our mission.
Join us at our AGM to honour the staff and the community, and to recognize and celebrate 48 years of organizing for change. This AGM will both honour what we have lost and celebrate what we have accomplished. We will present the Dorothy Leatch Memorial Award to a community member who exhibited exceptional contributions to social justice and the Fred Zemans Prize in Poverty Law (Parkdale) to an outstanding Osgoode student.
The business portion of the meeting will present the Annual Report and the Audited Financial Statements of 2018-2019 to the membership and elect our 2019-2020 Board of Directors.
Election of Directors
A member who is in good standing five days in advance of the AGM is eligible to vote in the meeting and elect Directors.
To nominate someone for the election of Directors, any two members in good standing may nominate another member in good standing for election as a Director, by submitting a nomination in writing to the PCLS office. Along with the nomination, the two members must also have the written consent of the nominated member confirming they will stand as a nominee to the Board. All nomination materials must be received no later than two business days prior to the date set for the AGM, or Monday, September 23rd, 2019, at 5:00 p.m.
