About APT

The Alliance for a Poverty-free Toronto (APT) is a city-wide network of community groups, agencies, concerned residents and individuals with lived experience of poverty, working to eliminate poverty. The group promotes collaboration that includes not only community organizations and groups, but also government, organized labour, institutions and the private sector. In brief, we want to engage everyone in a united effort to tackle this problem and build a better city.

APT had its beginnings as a steering committee, the Toronto Working Group on Poverty, which came together after a community forum held in Toronto in June 2010 and has been actively involved in the community since then.
