On May 12, WAC released its new report, titled "Unpaid Wages, Unprotected Workers", revealing the remarkable prevalence of violation of the Employment Standards Act in Ontario. The report is based on a survey of 520 casual, temporary, and non-standard workers in the Greater Toronto Area and Windsor. The report exposes a shocking reality in which wages, overtime and vacation goes unpaid and people are often forced to work for less than minimum age.

Parkdale Community Legal Services, through its Workers' Rights Division, has documented instances of wage theft, and has worked with numerous clients through the courts to earn them the the wages and respect they deserve. The lessons learned from our casework has helped inform the larger campaign of PCLS and organizations like the Workers' Action Centre, to fight for urgent action from the Ontario government to address unpaid wages and lack of protection in Ontario workplaces.
